Renewable Recycling, Inc., Launches ‘Sustainable Sandbags’ Made From Recycled Textiles
Innovative product
enhances flood prevention while promoting circular economy and sustainability.
NEW YORK, February 12, 2025 — Renewable Recycling, Inc. (RRI), a 100% woman-owned, NYS DEC-registered mattress recycling facility, proudly announces the launch of its new Sustainable Sandbag. Made from a unique blend of recycled textiles, this eco-friendly sandbag offers a revolutionary solution for flood prevention and construction site management.
The Sustainable Sandbag incorporates recycled textiles combined with sand, delivering up to three times greater moisture retention compared to standard sandbags. This enhancement helps improve performance in flood prevention while promoting sustainability by diverting waste textiles from landfills.
“Finding outlets for recycled textiles is just as challenging as perfecting recycling methodologies to meet the DEC’s required 85% minimum recycling goal,” said Christine Kiourtsis, Founder and President of RRI. “Introducing a product that delivers versatility, durability, and sustainability is a win for us as a company, the environment and for our customers, helping move us closer to a proven Circular Economy.”
Available through RRI’s dba company, All-Island Sandbag Co., the Sustainable Sandbag is designed for flood prevention in high-risk areas, as well as for use in construction site barriers during the design/build phase. The product not only offers superior performance but also provides valuable landfill diversion tonnage reporting with every sandbag purchased, furthering its positive environmental impact.
“We’re thrilled to offer a product that meets market quality standards while also providing transparency through tonnage diversion reporting,” said Mrs. Kiourtsis. “We believe this product is just the beginning of a new era of sustainable solutions and are proud to contribute to a cleaner, greener Earth. We deeply appreciate the interest and support we’ve received thus far.”
The Sustainable Sandbag is now available for purchase at [All-Island Sandbag Co.]
